From the Cross-roads of Dionysos, to the Hospices de Nuits Auction following Vosnes Vintages: Ode to the great wines of Burgundy...

On the weekend of March 23rd-25th, with the Cross-roads of Dionysos in Morey-Saint-Denis, Vosnes Vintages at Vosne-Romanée and the Hospices de Nuits Auction in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy made a remarkable start to spring 2001.

In fact, not only are these exhibitions a unique opportunity for wine professionals as well as well-informed wine lovers to meet winegrowers from the most prestigious domaines of Burgundy, it is also the chance to taste the latest vintage yet to be released.

For what a vintage 1999 was in Burgundy! The general consensus is that the 1999 vintage offers "profound sensual, seductive wines, with great ageing potential." Great wines, made according to various philosophies, 1999 is without a doubt a great vintage for Burgundy and for those domaines that chose to give Pinot Noir as well as Chardonnay their patent of nobility.

The weekend ended with the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges Auction, which from now on will be famous. They managed to sell 165 barrels of the 2000 vintage at an almost stable rate.
